Greensboro Montessori School
Strategic Plan 2004-2009
The GMS
Board of Trustees presents this Strategic Plan
that will serve as a "road map" for the school over the next five year period. This plan balances the interests of all of our school's constituents, based upon the values that have guided GMS since
it founding. This plan is very ambitious and success will depend
upon the efforts of the whole GMS community, including the GMS BOT, faculty, staff and parents.
The following Mission Statement and six high-level goals serve as the foundation for everything proposed in the plan. Above all, we want to preserve an environment that is special for each child and helps guide development according to principles first espoused by Maria
Montessori. Our Mission Statement:
"We nurture children to be creative, eager learners as they discover their full potential and become responsible global citizens."
Goals:
Above all, Greensboro Montessori will remain committed to the pedagogical and instructional philosophy, values, and curricular emphasis of Maria Montessori.
• GMS will provide the highest quality instruction by attracting, developing, and retaining the highest quality faculty.
• GMS will offer a contemporary education with a curricular focus on technology and second language instruction.
• GMS will sustain an maintain its financial robustness primarily through competitive tuition/fees, meeting targeted enrollment projections, increased emphasis on development activities with both the GMS family and outside community, maintenance of physical plant and sound fiscal management.
• GMS will be a community diverse in socio-economic means and ethnicity among its students, faculty, and staff that is reflective of the diversity of the surrounding community.
• GMS will be served by an administrative team and governance body that is committed to excellence and positioned to lead and support all student, parent, faculty, and community initiatives.
