Article by 8th level students Danny Lluhi, Kevin Wilson, & Francis Wong

The Greensboro Montessori School has many extracurricular activities which include soccer, volleyball, basketball, and cross county. Our teams have the full support from faculty and parents. At our games, many of the parents come to cheer us on. This school year our soccer team was undefeated, with the amazing scores of 7-0, 7-1, 5-1, and 3-1. Our volleyball team also went undefeated this year, and we have high hopes for our basketball and cross country teams.

We play against three other schools. They are B’nai Shalom, Guilford Day School and New Garden Friends School. There are two basketball teams. There is a 6th grade team, and a 7th and 8th grade team. Our 7th and 8th grade basketball team won the championship last year.

We have very experienced coaches helping us achieve our goals of team building and, of course, winning a trophy. Our coaches are Morgan Kratovil (all sports), Jon McLean (soccer), Maria Ibarra-Wong (volleyball) and Coy Thompson (basketball).

We practice in our gymnasium and out on our soccer field. The gymnasium is marked for basketball and has full-height hoops. The soccer field will be marked in 2006 and has full size soccer goals. During cross country season, we run 2-3 miles everyday on a nearby trail in the woods. We also run at Bur-mil and Battleground Parks. In the actual meets we run 1.5 miles.
