Don't Forget the Fall Festival!
FALL FESTIVAL is Sunday, October 14th
1pm – 4pm at GMS
Rain or Shine!
The event this year will be picnic-style, so we invite our families to bring their picnic lunches, blankets, chairs, and relax while we have music to enjoy throughout the day, and fun events to participate in! The PTC will provide lemonade and water.
Dave DeHarde’s band, Dave & Brooks, will be performing at Fall Festival this year. The GMS Dance Troupe, featuring students from ages 3 through Middle School, will also be performing at 2 and 3pm. We will have a hay ride, two inflatables, apple coring, speed pitch, face painting, field day races, art activities and yes, karaoke!
The Usborne “Reading is a Gift” book fair will also be in the Media Center during Fall Festival. We encourage you to visit the book fair that day if you have not already stopped in or shopped online at www.ubah.com/BF22194. Please do not forget that we have wish lists for our classrooms!
We still need volunteers to help with Fall Festival. Please contact Kerry Meyers at kerry@thegms.org to find out how you can help. We would love more volunteers to help with field day games, inflatables, art activities, and clean-up. Thank you!

PTC Update
NO PTC MEETING IN OCTOBER!! PTC projects are underway and committees are doing their work, but there is no need for a general meeting in October. For those parents who cannot attend the meetings but are willing to help out, please consider being part of a committee:
Cultural Awareness committee co-chairs are Karen Massand and Shelley Ireland, please contact them if you can help with ideas or planning of events. Barb Sambol-Curran will coordinate the fall book fair, and volunteers are very much appreciated. Robyn Gest is room parent coordinator this year, and Pamela Lietz has offered to coordinate visiting artists (the first one this year is UNCG Opera Theater this week.) Linda Bedell will chair the teacher appreciation event in the spring, and planning will begin right after the winter break. The PTC usually meets in April or May to determine what the next fall fundraiser will be, and line up committee chairs for the fall.
The ATTRACTIONS GUIDE FUNDRAISER was very successful! THANK YOU to those who participated and helped sell over 700 books, and thank you to Linda Bedell who coordinated! Remember to use those coupons and SAVE $$! J To those parents who still have the sample book and envelope, please return the book - or if you want to keep it, send a check for $25. The PTC fall fundraiser supports all the above activities and provides funding for wonderful gifts to the school.
