Welcome to The Greensboro Montessori School

For parents seeking the best education in Greensboro, beginning in the toddler years and extending through elementary and middle school; Greensboro Montessori School is the area’s thought leader in education.  GMS has been challenging the conventional factory model of education since 1974 with a personalized Montessori educational experience that intersects with the needs of the 21st century, preparing children for the global age. While conventional schools focus on curriculum, Montessori focuses on the child first.

The Greensboro Montessori School Mission

At the Greensboro Montessori School, learning is a journey. Our mission is to nurture children to be creative, eager learners as they discover their full potential and become responsible, global citizens. Our teachers and curriculum inspire a joy of learning, academic success, intellectual excitement, creativity, and emotional well-being in each of our students.

Our school is accredited by the American Montessori Society, The Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, now known as AdvanceEd. We offer the opportunity to share more about our school and invite you to visit during our monthly Open Houses to learn more.

  • Over 100 years ago, Dr. Maria Montessori observed that children learn best by doing. Her extensive research produced a teaching method, which matches teaching styles to the intellectual, emotional, and social development of children.

As a Montessori school, we are different from conventional schools. Our first commitment is to the multi-dimensional development of the child. Our curriculum is challenging and appropriate. Parents of our graduates tell us that their children are ready and well prepared for high school and are poised for successful futures in college and life in the 21st century.
