Our mission is to nurture children to be creative, eager learners as they discover their full potential and become responsible, global citizens. Our teachers and curriculum inspire a joy of learning, academic success, intellectual excitement, creativity, and emotional well-being in each of our students.

Our school is accredited by the American Montessori Society, The Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, now known as AdvanceEd. We offer the opportunity to share more about our school and invite you to visit during our monthly Open Houses to learn more.

  • Over 100 years ago, Dr. Maria Montessori observed that children learn best by doing. Her extensive research produced a teaching method, which matches teaching styles to the intellectual, emotional, and social development of children.

As a Montessori school, we are different from conventional schools. Our first commitment is to the multi-dimensional development of the child. Our curriculum is challenging and appropriate. Parents of our graduates tell us that their children are ready and well prepared for high school and are poised for successful futures in college and life in the 21st century.

  • Montessori Students Ask Candidates Tough Questions

    Wednesday, April 2, 2014

GOP logoThe GMS middle school students hosted a forum for the candidates seeking to become the Republican nominee for the NC 6th congressional district.  8 of the 9 candidates attended the event.  Three students were the monitors, others greeted visitors, ran the sound, filmed the event and even kept the candidates within their allotted three minutes.  All the students in the middle school participated in the event.  They worked together in small groups to draft insightful questions, which covered topics including the environment, taxes, education, gay marriage, minimum wage and more.  Candidates were given time to present their platforms and then were read randomly selected questions by the students.
