John Archambault has been a teacher in Upper Elementary since 2002. Not many know that he became a teacher following a successful fourteen-year career practicing law with Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey and Leonard, L.L.P. in Greensboro. It so happened that John was consulting with GMS on some legal questions and he decided that he wanted a professional change of pace. Then he very humbly asked Frank for an opportunity to give teaching a try. John has a passion for History and for Math, and found a special calling working with Upper El students (9-11 year olds).
John received an A.B. in philosophy from Boston College and an M.A. in philosophy and a J.D. from Duke University. John holds a Montessori teaching credential for six to twelve year olds from Southwestern Montessori Training Center. Among the many things John enjoys doing are writing poetry, playing tennis, playing the drums, and hiking (in the summer, he leads the GMS Trailblazers Camp). Ask any GMS Middle Schooler if they still have a copy of the personal Shakesperean sonnet that John wrote in their honor when they moved up from Upper El to Middle School. Chances are they could even recite it for you!
