GMS offers a variety of week-long summer day camps for children ages 2 to 14. Our most popular summer camps include:
Montessori Market for children ages 7 & up. Campers create art, crafts, and food items, along with picking produce from the School’s gardens to sell in an outdoor market. Each year the campers decide how the profits from the market are used to support children outside of the school. In past years money raised has been donated to buy school supplies for students in Guilford County, given to the Children’s Home Society and Amman Imman Water is Life project in Africa.
Can You Dig It Camp for children ages 9 & up is a hands on science and history based field school for future archeologists! Students use the scientific method at the Agape Retreat Center in Oak Ridge, NC to explore local native culture and history.
Music, Movement and More for children ages 2 – 5. In this lively camp children enjoy a variety of movement, singing games, instrument exploration, listening experiences, rhythm and tonal echo patterning games, and folk music utilizing the Musikgarten program developed by Lorne Lutz Heyge and Montessori pioneer Audrey Silick.
A Week in the Woods for children ages 4 to 9. Each day campers will be in the woods exploring, learning about nature, sewing, painting, drumming and just being kids in the woods in the summer! This camp makes connections with the Early Man studies from the Montessori elementary curriculum.
And many more! Be sure to check our website for Summer 2011 camps. Information will be available beginning in March of 2011.
