Greensboro
Montessori School Annual Fund
A strong financial position of The Greensboro Montessori School is very important. We hold an Annual Fund Drive every year that is a vital part of the school's revenue. Tuition at the school provides approximately 97% of the cost of each child's education. The Annual Fund helps support projects and enrichment programs for our students, teachers, and staff that are beyond what the operating budget can afford. The Annual Fund makes a substantive, measurable difference in the quality of the day-to-day educational experience of the children through enhanced programs, strengthened instruction, and increased availability of materials that would otherwise be beyond the School's reach.
The Annual Fund needs are identified through careful collaboration of parents, the Board of Trustees, Head of School, and the Director of Development. In 2003-2004 the Annual Fund supported the gardens and Permaculture program, improved technology and marketing, and allowed our teachers to receive Montessori training. We ask each family to make a thoughtful donation according to their resources when we launch our Annual Fund campaign every fall. Pledge invitations are also sent to grandparents, alumni families, staff families, and friends of the school. Pledges are payable through May 31 of the following year. Our Annual Fund gifts range from $5 to $10,000.
Why Have an Annual Fund?
The difference between a good faculty and a gifted one; the difference between a dusty lesson plan and innovative instruction; the difference between passive students and active learners; the difference between a class where children fall to the lowest common denominator of diminished expectations and an engaging environment that reaches out to the possibilities in each child.
Our students, faculty, and educational programs are the direct beneficiaries of restricted and unrestricted annual gifts to the Greensboro Montessori School.
What does your gift do?
Gifts to the Annual Fund: … maintain, sustain and nourish the finest Faculty and Staff … sustain an exemplary educational program … maintain a quality of materials and a campus that are uncompromising … help make GMS an educational choice for the broadest range of students.
The children at GMS today are tomorrow's citizens, neighbors, and co-workers, and we have an obligation to provide them with the finest instruction and resources available today - for tomorrow.
An Annual Report will be provided every year. If you have any questions or concerns or would like to make a gift to
