The Greensboro Montessori School
Annual Giving Campaign 2007-2008
“All That Your Gift Can Do”
Dear Friends,
As a member of The Greensboro Montessori School community, you understand that unique and effective learning tools and concepts are an integral part of the Montessori philosophy. What you may not know is that many of the experiential, hands-on-learning materials used in all of our classrooms were purchased with funds from our Annual Giving campaigns. Our Montessori materials offer children a way to experience concepts in a concrete manner that leads to more abstract concepts. A manipulative like the Pink Tower is first presented as simple stacking work. Working with the Pink Tower the child begins with simple gross motor skills and then advances to math concepts using sequence and vocabulary -- exploring big to small and everything in between.
Just like the Pink Tower, an annual gift to the school has great potential. Annual Giving dollars are not used solely for specifically designated projects; funds can also be made available to allow staff and faculty to meet needs of special projects that may arise during the school year. For example, your gift could be used for classroom materials or for professional development opportunities for our faculty and faculty support team. This potential allows our community to use a portion of the Annual Giving money where it is needed when it is needed.
This year's Annual Giving theme is "All That Your Gift Can Do”. The Pink Tower does quite a bit for children’s learning, so we have chosen it as our symbol for the upcoming drive. Look for the oversized Pink Tower that will be the gauge of our progress on Annual Giving, and keep in mind that your gift broadens your child's experience -- just like the Pink Tower.
Peace,
Frank Brainard
