 Youth Visits the UN
GMS Middle School students represent the U.S. at the China Mission.
In October, eight GMS Middle School students traveled to New York City for a four day field trip to discover the process of the United Nations. Students lodged in the heart of Broadway at the Marriott Marquis amidst the hustle and bustle of one of the world's busiest intersection Times Square.
Andrew Shields, Francis Wong, Richard Stafford, Ethan Coates, Britney Hobson, Jennifer Tolin, Mara Goldberg, and Katie Todd attended three all day sessions inside the hotel. Session breakouts included, Mine Removal, Millenium Goals, Saving the Rain Forest, Lectures by UN members and several Great Lessons.
Outside the hotel, students traveled to a local Montessori School for other sessions, toured the United Nations and visited the Chinese Mission.
Big fun and intense education about the peace process and having our own "voice" made the trip one to remember.
