Alexandria, 14, is a freshman at Penn-Griffin School for the Arts. This weekend, though, she will experience being a professional musician. She is in New York City to play in the Honors Performance Series, which includes the performance at Carnegie Hall. The group’s performance will include the finale of Symphony No. 1 by Gustav Mahler and Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story Overture.
As her bandmates pounded out a rocking waltz rhythm behind her, 15-year-old Natalie Frontera strummed an acoustic guitar while singing an emotionally intense song.
“He hits you; you scream,” she sang. “But I don’t hear a thing.”
We are pleased to announce the appointment of our new librarian, Erin Carmola! Erin is a recent graduate of the Masters in Library and Information Science program at UNCG. She also holds a BA in English with secondary education licensure. Erin has teaching experience and has fallen in love with the Montessori method!
